I Made the Blog!

If we talk regularly at all then we at some point are talking about Cake Wrecks. I have been reading that blog for about 9 months. I asked for a "Its all fun and Games till it ends up on Cake Wrecks" Shirt for Christmas (I didn't get it.Can you see I still wish I did). I LOVE this Blog http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/

Now. See that Picture? It MADE Cake Wrecks today. Today's feature is on horrific CCC (Cupcake Cakes) And my wreck made it. Not only did the thing Make it, But it got the privilege of being featured LAST in the entry. Last means that it was the worst of the worst. In this case its a good thing to come in last :)
Let me share with you the email that I submitted to fill you in on how I came across this:
Hi Jen!

I ran across this… um ‘Treat’ while picking up some actual watermelon this weekend. My friend Regina H is as big a Cake Wreck fan as I am and we both knew without speaking what had to be done. Operation get-a-pic commenced. We quickly whisked the CCC away to the spaghetti sauce isle and took a picture on my phone to send you. Karma promptly rewarded me by me dropping the phone breaking it into pieces and sending the battery under the shelf (shudders at the thought). This causes onlookers to look down the isle and see Regina and I on our knees, reaching around for pieces around this oddly shaped watermelon creation on the floor as well. I then left Regina to return the CCC to the bakery where I discovered that we had lucked out. There were 2 other ‘Watermelon Creations’ but only ours had the gapping whole in it. Me: 2 Karma:1
Unfortunately they didn't give Gina her proper credit in this so I'd like to do so now.
Gina Here's to you doing a magnificent Job Holding the Cake! I love you Happy Birthday!
Tomorrow I will go through the Comments to share others thoughts and opinions of the wreck.
And I am going to Buy me and Gina Official Wreck-porters t shirts. Cause we deserve them.
As Always,
Misty

Happy Brithday Brandon!

Back in summer 2004 Brandon and I had a conversation that has stuck in my mind for these past five years. He said "Do you realize that in 5 years I'll be 29?" It really didn't seem that big to be at the time that was 10 years away for me then... Until he mentioned that when he was 29 that mean that Id be turning 25! That hit the 19 year old me!

Well here we are. It is that five years later that Brandon has been dreading so. He hit it. 29! I'm not so sure what it is about '29' that he is so adverse to but all signs are pointing to what he will turn in exactly 1 more year. 30! If you ask him he is trying to make it so that May 20Th is left off all your calenders next year so that he cant turn 3-0. Keep Dreaming Baby!

I did write in his Birthday card though that 29 is not the end. It shows that there is still one good year left in the 20s.

So what are we doing to celebrate this fun day in his life? Not to much sadly. He is determined not to do to much celebrating so its being kept fairly light. We had a party at lunch today here in the CPS office which all the office staff and Brandon's Father and sister. We just had subs, cake and and ice cream explosion. We don't have any big plans for the rest of the day. Tomorrow night however we will go to Brandon's New Favorite place to eat http://www.thecountyseat.com/ Its a great Family restaurant right in the middle of 'Old Town" Powhatan. It really gives you that small town feeling and the meatloaf is pretty great. So we have that to look forward to.

All and all I doubt that 29 will be a bad thing for Brandon.... I however will have to cross that 25 bridge when I get to it in September.

Why do we have a Blog Again?

You know it's been busy when your neighbors call to make sure that you are alive. They called last night and we assured them that we are OK... just never home!

It really has been busy for us but hopefully that will change this month a bit... at least for a while we hope! March and April where insane months with many highs and lows for us and we are very glad to start over in a new month.

March was taken over by the loss of my Grandmother who passed away less then a week before her 93rd birthday. Grandma 'B' or Birdie as her friends and family knew her had a long, and not always easy life. Her health really began reclining back in December and we have been very surprised that she was able to make it to March 11Th. The last time that i got to see her on this Earth was the Saturday before and she was suffering from a severe loss of memory. She could look at me and realize that I looked like myself, yet in the very next sentence would ask me whose child I was. That was one of the hardest part of her deterioration, and a part that I am glad that my aunt didn't get to see her like. The last thing that she said to her nurse when the nurse told her that she was loved just like a baby to them, my Grandmother said that "It's time for the Baby to go to sleep" and she did. When the nurse came back a few minutes later she was gone. Very peacefully without any pain. And for that we are thankful.

Unfortunately the timing of the Funeral and Burial kept Brandon from Going to Pastors School this year. I felt bad that he stayed with me but know that I would have done the same had the situation been reversed. Hes really a great Husband to me.

April was just plain busy! It seemed that we where always doing something, or preparing to do something. Plus with Ladies Meeting in Durham, Brandon's work conference in VA Beach, youth conference back in Durham and the very successful car show at church and another ladies meeting this past Monday plus other varies activities no wonder the neighbors think we up and moved!

Where have we been?

That's an excellent Question! Busy with Work things I suppose is the best Answer!

I just wanted wish all a belated Happy Valentines day! Brandon and I went pretty simple this year. We had originally talked about saving money on gifts for each other and putting it towards getting passports so that if a really good opportunity to leave on a cruise comes up we will be ready. That didn't happen but i guess the thought was a good one right? I was completely Broke this year and couldn't spoil my husband they way I would have liked and as he deserved but i did manage to make him a 75 song collection of love songs that he could play on dates or during dinners. I also picked up some cologne back in January at a sale that Id like him to wear and it smells heavenly on him! But me being me, Ever the Blond I did have one Valentines Misfortune. I accidentally lost or through out his Card! GONE! No idea what I did With it!

As for Brandon's gifts for me... well He remembered how against getting the traditional flowers and Candy that you normally would get for Valentines, but out smarted the system! He surprised me with one of my favorite candy's ( Jelly Bellies) and gave me a Rose scented candle! He also gave me a willow tree memento box as it had a rose carved out of the side of it and an assortment of tarts for the Kitchen! His card was sweet enough to bring tears to my eyes too which is my favorite part of Valentines. Hes the best!

We also attended our Churches valentines banquets and had a great time at Both. Brandon's sister Shannon got the award for Queen, Best Dressed and Best Eyes that night. Not a bad way to end your year huh?

This time of year though is always the hardest for me personally though. The 13Th marked 14 years since my Father passed away, and no matter how busy I get in life i still miss him everyday. This year to mark his passing I made sure to make time to go visit his mother my 92 year old Grandmother. Since her heart attack in December she hasn't been quite the same and it seems that she may be in the early onset of Alzheimer's. But she still knows me and knew what the day was but she held up better then I had for most of the day. Shes an amazing woman.

As Always,
Misty

Sand and Stone

I found this the other day and like it quite a lot! One of the things I am most thankful for are the Friends around the Country that God has given to me. It seems that someone no matter what comes up in my life there is always someone, somewhere who knows what I'm going through. Thanks Girls!

SAND or STONE?
A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert.
In a specific point of the journey,
they had an argument,
and one friend slapped the other one in the face.
The one, who got slapped, was hurt,
but without anything to say,
he wrote in the sand:
"TODAY, MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE".
They kept on walking,
until they found an oasis,
where they decided to take a bath.
The one who got slapped and hurt started drowning,
and the other friend saved him.
When he recovered from the fright,
he wrote on a stone:
"TODAY, MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE"
The friend who saved and slapped his best friend asked him,
"Why, after I hurt you, you wrote in the sand,
and now you wrote on a stone?"
The other friend, smiling, replied:
"When a friend hurts us, we should write down in the sand,
where the winds of forgiveness get in charge of erasing it away,
and when something great happens,
we should engrave it in the stone of the memory of the heart,
where no wind can erase it."
*****
And remember that

As Always,
Misty
